The organization was begun by Dan Knutson in February 2006. Dan is a recovering alcoholic and was looking for a way to give back to the recovery community that has helped his life become more manageable.
After spending time visiting friends in other sober houses and doing service work with newly recovering people, Dan decided he wanted to open houses for GLBT people that were well kept, clean, furnished nicely, and generally, a desirable place to live.
Dan’s aim has always been to offer the most comfortable accommodations and run the most effective program to help addicts and alcoholics recover. He’s had a lot of help along the way and continues to maintain effective recovery atmospheres, due in large part to the help of live-in house managers.
